(Guides and Competition Entries - available from Bribie Island Visitor Information Centre & Bribie Library)

Help council identify how many migratory bird species are visiting the region.

Residents have the chance to win a boat cruise donated by Ferryman Cruises.

The Identification Guide has information, colour photos and a data collection sheet to help identify the

birds. In the coming weeks thousands of migratory shore birds would start a 11,000 km flight to

breeding grounds in the northern hemisphere. Shorebirds are threatened by loss of wetland habitat

along their flight corridor between Australia and the Arctic breeding grounds. Wetland habitats provide

crucial 'rest stops' for migratory birds and without them the birds become exhausted and disorientated.
