Bribie Island is linked to the mainland by a bridge making the visit to the scenic island a breeze. Bribie has always captured the imagination of tourists due to the spectacular beaches, fishing and relaxed lifestyle.  The island has the calm waters of the Pumicestone Passage on one side (most populated side) and the open ocean on the other at Woorim. Woorim has a patrolled swimming beach year round with great picnic facilities and cafes. The ocean side also allows four wheel drive vehicles (permit required) to drive north along the deserted beach to camping facilities and historical WW2 bunkers.

The main tourist strip on Bribie Island is along Welsby Parade on the Pumicestone Passage towards the pier at Bongaree. Many tourists enjoy the beauty of Woorim with the lure of the ocean beach and the sound of crashing waves. Both sides have hotels & motels with nearby services that cater well for tourists.

There are 4 main suburbs of Bribie Island; Bongaree, Bellara, Banksia Beach and Woorim

Bongaree which features the Jetty, shops, cafes and restaurants and the soon to be opened Bribie Seaside Museum.

Another great source of information about Bribie Island is the Free Bribie Island Magazine. It's published every year and has lots of information and maps invaluable for locals and tourists alike. You can pick up your copy and more from the Bribie Information Centre (located just across the bridge after the first round about in the main car park).

The ocean beach track travels past a number of lagoons (sometimes these may have washouts into the ocean that need extra care when crossing). The lagoons are very popular and are spaced along the beach drive and include Freshwater Creek, Norfolk Creek, Mermaid Lagoon and Welsby Lagoon.
Ocean Beach Camping is 16km along the beach.

There is also 4WD access from Whitepatch (near Park Rangers Office) with tracks to passage camping grounds and a track across to the northern end of Woorim beach.
